The Pura Belpré Award for Narrative
The Pura Belpré Award, named for the first Latina librarian of the New York Public Library, is awarded biennially to a Latina/Latino writer and illustrator "whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth".
