The Pura Belpré Award

The Pura Belpré Award, named for the first Latina librarian of the New York Public Library, is awarded biennially to a Latina/Latino writer and illustrator "whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth".  To learn more, pleas visit the ALA web site.
